On Saturday 1st February our athlete Neale Hudson flew to Switzerland to compete in the SOGB National Alpine Skiing Competition 2020. I was lucky enough to accompany him and deliver the support he needs to enable him to spend the week away from home, and compete in the official games.
Despite a slight hiccup with the weather (the first day was rained off) Neale endured the heavy snow to compete in the Slalom (fifth division), winning him a Gold medal! The following day with slightly better conditions he competed in the Giant Slalom (fifth division) and won himself another Gold medal! On the third and final day of competition he competed in the Super G (fifth division) and won a Bronze medal!
Such an amazing week was had by almost 100 athletes up and down the country with different activities every night including the Opening Ceremony, a Mr Bean look-a-like, Official Procession around the lake, not forgetting the Closing Ceremony and the much deserved disco on the last night. Neale especially enjoyed his week and really enjoyed his time with the ‘ski family’ that we have known for many years now. It was such a special event to be part of.
