Past Charity Events
Whilst they were there Sam Moss, Gillian Sherman and Lyndsey Lodwidge met up to personally thank Bramshaw's Chairman Paul Cooch who had nominated OTARS as their chosen charity for this year. Thanks does not do justice to our thoughts and it is hard to find the words needed to show our appreciation of their fantastic support. In total they managed to raise £3250 which far exceeded even our wildest dreams.
A Charity Golf Day was held at Dibden Golf Club on Saturday 11th October .
40 residents & friends in Woodlands Southampton, many who drink in the Gamekeeper pub came together with the help of coordinator Mick Shaw to raise an amazing £2400. Despite the rain it was a great success with lots of fun and laughter throughout the day, ending with dinner, a late night of dancing and fundraising at the Gamekeeper. The money has been divided to support 2 charities, Macmillan Cancer support & Southampton OTARS. Sam Moss and Sarah Leavesley from OTARS joined the group for breakfast and handed out wristbands, pens and cheered the golfers on. Photograph shows Sarah, Sam and Barbara (who sadly lost her husband Sandy from cancer last year) Fiona her daughter manages the Gamekeeper pub. If you are in the area pop in and say Hi. |

Southampton Ukulele and Fish Supper
Saturday 12th October |
Let me start by saying how impressed everyone was at the fish supper held last week. The fish and chips from Moby Dicks were fantastic and the music was brilliantly performed by The Southampton Ukulele Band, who gave us some marvelous renditions of classics like The Stones "Paint it black" and Eric Clapton's "Layla" supplementing it with Lady Gaga's "Poker face" for those of us too young to remember that far into the distant past.
In all we managed to raise £300 for Otars. Money that as always will go towards our athletes. Thanks must also go to our photographer, Mrs Alison Gilroy who is willing to take all the blame for these photos, though some credit for this is owing to Mr Dermot Feely for looking so strange in some pictures. |
Golf Day friday 21st june
We held our annual golf day for the second year at Romsey Golf Club and thanks to some glorious weather had a fantastic day, With an amazing 14 teams, we managed to raise over £1000, which goes towards sending athletes to the National Special Olympics being held this year in Bath, as well as providing ongoing support to all our athletes throughout the year.
This years winners in the Stapleford play were Nick Gray and Gary Hill, who along with Ken and Dave Morton narrowly beat the team from "The Bridge" into second.
We wish to thank each and everyone for their support in raising such much needed funds.
